White Spy is the foil to his nemesis, the Black Spy, in the Spy vs Spy comic strip created by Antonio Prohías. White Spy clashes with Black Spy in every comic strip, and is successful in defeating him roughly half the time. White Spy is distinguished from him by the white color of his trench-coat, pants, pointed-tip boots and very wide-brimmed hat with a black stripe, although both wear white long-sleeved undergarments. Both spies are physically identical, their most distinctive features being their long pointed noses, while they also have several curved strands of hair on their heads when their hats are removed. Earlier sketches of them portrayed them wearing black shades, which gradually morphed into their eyes themselves being black with white pupils from later writers.

Personality[]

White Spy tends to be more blunt in his schemes against Black Spy. He has been shown as being susceptible to baits involving suspected intel, his ego being threatened by challenges or perceived insults, and beautiful women, the latter of which serves the Grey Spy to her advantage, who is always successful in defeating White Spy and Black Spy when they clash. White Spy has also been shown as having an interest in reading, being seen with literature including Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Sherlock Holmes and classic fairy tales, this sometimes exploited by Black Spy.

Trivia[]

  • While fans like to call White Spy "Dagger" the guide for the first Spy vs Spy videogame claims his name is "Heckel" This is likely a reference to the vintage cartoon "Heckle and Jeckle" about a pair of magpies that highly resemble the Spies.
